I agree!

nice, but it's like a carbon copy of the BBZ-1

LOL, well then that would mean its a copy of the Rago Tool.     :-X

Its just a modified BBZ1. Im assuming he took the soft tail off and built a wooden one to house the microfibers. Look closely and you can see the texture change, right where the softtail should start. from there back it has no scales. Other than that he just filled in the fin slots, changed the eyes and gave it a spray.

That's possible fourbizz (good detective :(). I'll ask the guy if that's the case.

Well, I confronted the guy, but he still claims that the bait is all handmade. ::(

Could be that he made a mold of the BBZ-1 but had  to remove the soft tail to do this, thats why you see a texture change. The bait is not made of wood but cast/poured, so he claims.

First chocolate. Then watches. Now lures.

It just doesn't get better than this.  ;D

I actually thought about that after I made that post T-rig. Thats probably exactly what he did. If he tells you he carved it himself though, I say BS. That head detail is spot on bbz, so are the scales, and so is the lateral line. Look close, it turns up to hit the top of the gill plate, just like the bbz.

I think it would be cool if he was straight up about it. But I wouldnt in a million years believe that he carved it all by his lonesome.

Nice looking bait. Great paint job.

Unfortunately the hard bait business is getting much like the soft plastics business, knockoffs are easy to do. Using the bbz-1 for your master it is easy to modify the tail section to use either a soft plastic or microfiber tail then pour and assemble the parts. The paint is pretty decent however so I'll give him that.
