Braid Question

Featured Replies

I am fairly new to Baitcasters and I am having trouble with braided line on a couple reels, I put some 30lb spiderwire on two of my reels with mono backing, then when I put them on the rod and started to play around with them and cast them. There is almost like a rubbing sound when I'm reeling the line back up, not as smooth as the reels with mono/fluoro on them. Since I'm newer to casting reels idk what it could be. Anybody have a way to fix this? Or is this common

Very common, what you are hearing is the braid going to through the guides. You will get used to that sound. And when the braid breaks in a little the sound will diminish a bit too. When you catch a fish the sound will increase however. Don't freak out!! LOL. Good luck.

Can be just that brand line. Also the rod guides make a difference with the amount of noise. Other brand braids can be very quiet. Braids with 8-strands are quieter than 4-strand braids. Even company "A" 8-strand can be louder than company "B" 8-strand.
