homemade jigs

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a way to get rid of cabin fever.  So I have been thinking about making my own jigs.  Can anyone point me in the right direction.  I will probably be making mostly football jigs and shakey heads, but may go for flippin jigs or arkie heads.  Also, is it possible to get tungsten?  I know it would be really expensive but I am curious.  What is a good paint to buy?

www.fishingskirts.com for your skirts.

Janns netcraft for powder paint and skirts.

I buy all of my unpainted jigheads from someone on Tackleundeground, I can provide you an email if you would like.

GMan had a series of posts on making jigs a while back that would be very helpful.

You mentioned 4 different types of jigs so that would be $120 for molds.  A lead pot is about $50.  Powder paint is about $6 for 2 oz.  I suggest that you look at Jann's, Barlows, Stamina, and any other places you know for prices of already poured and painted heads.  They you can order them and some skirts and assemble them.

That would give you an idea of just how deep you want to get into making baits.

I have already looked at the cost of making these jigs.  That is not an issue.  I was just looking for some pointers.   I will check out that website and get back to you bowtech.  Thanks

I just ordered some football head jig molds to make my own jigs.  I ordered them from jannsnetcraft.  I already have other jig head styles and drop shot sinker molds.  I will order my skirts from fishingskirts.com.  I use powder paints, they are easy to use use and do a great job.  Jannsnetcraft has a wide selection of paints, and that is where I get the hooks and weed guards.

You can order your molds directly from Do-It.

If you have a tax # or know someone who has then use Shorty's Hook Sales for hooks.  Otherwise Captain Hooks.

Powder Paint is way cheaper directly from the mfg by the pound.

Living Rubber can be bought directly if you buy in quanity.
