Berkley E-Motion?

Featured Replies

Berkeley has been advertising pretty heavily lately, and there latest marketing push (if you had not already seen) was for the new E-Motion rod series. These things honestly look like something I would buy. Currently they're only available on Berkley's website but are sure to hit Cabelas, BPS, Gander Mountain, etc. At any time. Had anyone had a chance to demo or fish one yet?

There was a post earlier this year from a board member.  I can't remember his name, but he bought a few.  Try and do a search?

I found them at a local gander mountain a few months ago. Felt decent. I dislike the oversized butt cap

Yeah that was my initial thought.  I'm guessing they are using it to balance better?  I haven't held one yet, but I'd overlook it if it performs well.

Lots of praise as far as price vs performance goes. If they are anything like the Lightning rod, you're getting a solid rod for the price.

When I was looking for a pitching rod I checked out there 7'3" ex-hvy and the balance was horrible, it felt like somebody had tied a brick to the tip of the rod. I usually like what Berkley has to offer but unless it is as sensitive as a powell endurance, tatula, micro magic, etc., etc., I don't see my self buying one of those. It and the shimano compre Flipping rod have had the worst balance of any $100 rod I've felt so far.

I've got the 6'9" MF that I use for Jerkbaits and weightless plastics. Its a surprisingly light rod and has performed well so far. I agree the butt cap is a little large and takes some getting used to, but it actually feels good with a two handed cast. I'll also add that the kinda micro guides are pretty sweet too. All in all I feel that it is a nice rod for the price.

That's what I was hoping being that I have several lightning rods and they've out preformed other much more expensive equipment. Sorry for the repost through, was just too excited when I discovered this. Will most likely be getting the spinning rod first. I like the way they've started splitting the cork grip, does so much to the sensitivity.

I won a M action spinning rod in a club raffle. I too felt it was tip heavy but once I put a Revo S on it, it seemed more balanced. I've been throwing those Cabin Creek Spider Parts lately, pitching under docks & to laydowns with straight 20# Power Pro. This combo has saved my butt a lot lately. I've got more expensive rods but this one gets used more than the others. Just my 2 cents....
