Snell Knot Trouble

Featured Replies

Anyone got any tips/better knot for tying onto a t-r8g setup? I'm using Owner Jungle hooks but I'm having trouble making the wraps for the knot because of the bait keeper.

Just figured it out, I was trying to do the wraps into the loop so I had no room to make them because of the bait keeper.

I can see using snell knot on hook that looks like the one on that knot page (negative eye bend?).

And I've considered it for punch rigs.  But for most hooks with the eye in line (or 30-60 degreee), I don't see the advantage over a palomar or improved clinch.

Hmmm the Owner jungles are a straight eye,I figured the snell knot would be better.

There really isnt any need for a snell not bro, but to each his own.

Snell a straight shank flipping hook. Especially when using heavier weights like 1/2oz and up. The weight kicks the hook out and helps to drive the large gauge hook upward. I use the uni knot version of the snell. It's easy to tie quick.
