6 Foot 6 Inch Heavy

Featured Replies

I recently asked you guys about this rod size and action. Due to the llack of information online I did a review. There specific rod is a team daiwa t rod, 6'6" heavy, fast action. For the price this rod is excellent. I feel it is a bit heavy but balances well when paired with my lexa 100. The rod has ten guides that all were well aligned. This thing is more of an extra fast action! I fish off kayaks and float tubes and I have to say this size rod alows me to cast from these platforms much easier! For those of you that fish heavy cover from a low platform, I cannot describe how much more efficient this rod is when compared to a 7'6". I was able to nail a 5 lb bass and the rod is powerful.

Awesome fish. I fish from low platforms as well and have really enjoyed the +/- 6'6" offerings from ***.

I love heavy power rods!  I've got at least 5 of them, one is a David Green custom spiraled St Croix Avid.   3 are 6'6" and 2 are 6'10"  They KNOW you mean business when you whack 'em with a heavy!  No matter what they are hiding in, they comin' out!  :eyebrows:

lol ive caught 4 fish in 2 days with this rod over 19 inches with the biggest right at 22. The heavy action yanks em 3 feet out of cover just on the hookset!

Glad you dig it. Great fish!

I cannot bring myself to fish a rod less than 7' on my yak. A 6'6" doesn't allow me to work the fish around the front of the boat- and that's a deal breaker for me. Every yak is different though.....

Hmm.  My family just got a 12' Yak which can be used for fishing.  I will be giving it a whirl.  I agree with Kikstand, although maybe with that 6 6 stout rod he is just horsing them in and there is no need to be at the front of the Yak.  He gets ahold of one of those 10+ pounders down in oroville he could run into that problem.
