Hard jerkbait question

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

We always talk about working the jerkbait in jerk, pause, jerk jerk cadence or any cadence along those lines. But I got to thinking what about just slowly swimming it then pause or just slowly swimming it. What about swimming it fast? Anybody have success with this type of jerkbait swimming? Thanks.

Oh, certainly! I used to catch bass on the original Rapala all the time by just swimming it before I found out that wasn't the way one was supposed to fish with them :) Certain models work better than others, but it's definitely a technique that can work.

There are times that they only hit swimming jerkbaits so try both ways until you find out what the fish want. :)

There are also times when they hit crankbaits fished like jerkbaits.

Slowly retrieving does certainly work.

I like ripping it and than letting it sit and that start another slow retrieve and repeat.

Try it out, youd be susprised what you can do with those thing.  :)
