Advantage Of A Mh Extra Fast Action Versus Fast?

Featured Replies

I guess the title says it all. Is it just a preference?

When it comes to rods (or anything else for that matter), it's always a preference.   I have never met a XF that I didn't like.... for something.

The difference between F and XF is the length of the action in the tip.  The faster the action, the shorter amount of blank is bending while casting or hook setting.   XF is typically used for jerk baits and top water but you can find other uses for it.

If your jig fishing with anything other than braid then the extra speed may help your hook set.  Some people go nuts and find the fastest rod and then use braid but not this guy.  The xfast rods IMO work well with flouro and I use mine for dropshot.

And again with no industry standard for xf or f... one company's xf is equal to another's f. The above explanations are correct but you should still try to get your hands on the rods that you are interested in.
