It's that time of year. Flatheads are holing up to spawn and getting very protective so if you drop a bait on their heads they're probably going to eat it.

Sounds like a fun adventure.

 

My cousins and I used to do this when fishing the Mississippi Sound in the Gulf of Mexico out of a 16-foot skiff.

 

We would hook into  and release our anchor or "stick up pole" and go for a ride until the line broke.

 

My uncle had a 46-foot Chris Craft yacht that we towed the two skiffs so we could go out into the Gulf.
