Blanked At Chick Lake

Featured Replies

Someone please key me in on some spots to catch some bass. I've fished the chick twice now and have come up dry both times. If you don't want to post it on the forum send me a PM. I'm not a tx fisherman so I won't be competing against you. I know there are several natives on this forum who must know of some structure or something to help me boat a bass. Very much appreciated and advice will go a long way seeing as I have yet to catch a fish lol

I'm no expert on that body of water, but the one thing shared with me a few years back was downsize your presentation.  I used small black/blue 3/16oz finesse jigs with small trailers and fished the cypress knees on the feeder creeks.  Never got skunked.  Also, if you can get on the water and back into the creeks, the lily pads hold bass all summer long and are awesome top water opportunities - frogs, spooks, weightless finesse worms or jerk shad style baits when worked through them produce.

I was trying to find a contour map to help with finding ledges but I don't think it exist.  Does anyone know where I can find some submerged structure? (ledges, brush piles etc)  Also, how close are you allowed to fish at the dam and has anyone had luck fishing it?

Launched out of Ed Allen's  Saturday morning and boated 8 bass. 5 were keepers and the big fish of the day was just over 3lbs. They were destroying black swim baits in the back Lacey creek. I also caught a ton of bowfin an pickerel on a KVD crank bait. (I stopped counting after 10) Then, around 2 pm the lightning became a real concern so we decided to call it a day.
