Shimano Vs Abu Garcia Rods

Featured Replies

Im looking to upgrade. Im stuck between the shimano clarus two piece and the abu garcia vendetta two piece. I cant seem to find any reviews for the clarus and Im not sure how IM8 Graphite Compares to 30 ton. What do you guys think?

People will rave about shimanos good warranty. Me? .. I'll suggest a 1 piece abu garcia veritas rod ;) you can get the 1st generations for cheap now.

I dont know of anyone that raves about a 1 year non over the counter warranty which is what shimano is now. I havent had 2 piece rods of either model but ive owned a 7ft mh vendetta 1 piece casting rod and a 7 ft 2 in mh clarus with split eva handles. I personally didnt care for either. The clarus wasnt very sensitive for an im8 rod, and the vendetta was way heavier than a mh. I like a stiff rod for some things, but not to the point where i need a 5/8 oz jig plus trailer to load the rod enough to get a long cast. If i had to pick one of the 2 it would probably be the vendetta, id just get a rod one power lighter than what i wanted. If you dont mind 2 piece rods you can get way better rods than either of these for the same money or less

I have an older Clarus, fishes much lighter than it's rated.  Not a bad thing as long as I know how it fishes, one of my favorite bass rods.
