Broken silvercast

Featured Replies

I wasn't sure where to post this, but anyway: I have a broken Diawa silvercast reel. The bolt in this pic is the part that's broken. A while ago when I was pulling in a fish the bolt bent. I straightened it, but the next time I went fishing I tossed it on the ground (VERY careless :-[) and the bolt broke.

It isn't covered by warranty anymore and I wouldn't want to send it to the factory for repair anyway because the bolt is aluminum and they would just replace it with the same thing.

Does anyone know where I can get a steel replacement bolt?

You could call Daiwa, and order Part# W31-7101, but I'd say it would be easier to just get a new reel. Go for the Goldcast if you must have a spincast, it'll last you.

Daiwa: 1-562-802-9589

BTW, you can find any schematic you want for Daiwa on their website

Fishwhittler,

If you lived down the street from me (you probably don't) I can give and or make you a steel or stainless steel bolt. I would need length, and thread type and or a sample of the old bolt. But realistically it would be cheaper to buy another reel like J Fracho stated.

I thought about ordering a replacement from Daiwa but it would just be the same soft aluminum.

cadman, thanks for offering to make me a new bolt. I think I'll look for a new reel though, and keep an eye out for a bolt.

Thanks both!

Ben
