RECOIL Guides

Featured Replies

ok so im looking at building a 7'6" flipping stick, anyway im looking into using recoil guides on it but am wondering how people like the guides before i go ahead and buy them.

I personally, can not stand them.  They make a terrible sound, which I can't seem to get over.  As far as performance goes, they are very good.

i haven't used them but from what i've read they make a grinding noise as braid goes through them under tension.

I like them but they do make a sound when using braid does not bother me. I like them because bent guides are a thing of the past, Plus they are much lighter than alot of the guides out there unless you go with a titanium framed guide.

IMO...No. If you're gonna spend that much, I would go with Fuji Ti/SiC over the Recoils any day. With that being said.....I really like the Alconites myself. If you want to save the weight, use all BLAG's and BLAG4's as your running guides.

I have two Setyr rods, 7' medium, power fast action. Identical except for the guides. One has Batson Forecast guides, and one has Recoils. Both have Daiwa Fuego reels and #12 Trilene XL.

I can't tell the difference between the two in use. No noise difference, no casting difference, no sensitivity difference, no fish fighting difference.

My advice; buy Alconites and spend the money you saved on guides to upgrade to a better blank.

That would also be my suggestion.
