Hi I recently found an opportunity to purchase a revo mgx for $180. Does anyone have information or personal experience with it? I'm wondering how good of a deal it it.

Those go for $350, $500 for the Extreme Version new. If it's in decent shape sounds like a good price. They are a quality reel, no problem there. 

Great reels, I have several, although they are super light I use them as an all purpose reel. If you clean and flush the bearings or put Boca lightnings in then they cast a mile. Great break system but if you run your spool real loose they get a little finicky on a windy day. Curable by adding spool tension though. At that price it's a steal

I would not hesitate for that price.  A buddy had left one in my boat for a while, of course I used it haha.  Great reel, can't say I would pay close to retail, but for that price I would definitely put it to use.  Very comfortable to me, the body is not the same as the Gen3 revos.

Just make sure the reels weren't used in saltwater

That price is a steal for what those reels are worth. That being said, I would check and make sure that they are in working condition and that you are not about to buy two reels that have been trashed beyond repair

I bought a Pair of them for $350, and they are a great all purpose reel.
