Old School Rubber Skirt Smells Like Gas?

I got some old school rubber skirts from All Terrain and they smell like gas! is that normal/issue? Do you do anything to get rid of that smell other then rub fish sticks etc on it?

    that's probably the chemicals in the plastics , swimbaits often come like that , use a good scent on them , i prefer Pro Cure ..
