Painted a couple of BigM Flatsides

Featured Replies

A couple of baits Marty carved up for me sans paint.

I think in the future I'm going to drill out a recess for the eye, though.....I don't care for the eye-sticking-out look.

This one was very hard to photograph....I wanted something with a lot of flash and iridescence for clear water. If you hold it at an angle, the whole lure flashes lavender, and also a subtle shade of green (I mixed a tiny bit of green paint in with the dry pearl carrier).

Fantastic looking paint there Jon.

I like the purple one,SWEET.

I hate all of you guys that can paint.   I've been at this for 7yrs now and I still can't paint like that.

Jon,  you did an excellent job on both baits.   I'm not sure about drilling eye sockets thru the epoxy sealer.   Let me know how that goes on the next batch.

Both look great! I really like the scale pattern and the fins painted on them. Nice work  :o

Nice job and to think he has only started airbrushing!  I understand Marty's reservations about drilling through the undercoating but it should be OK as long as the eyes are clearcoated.  Also, you can paint the raw wood in the socket with superglue as a quick waterproofing before you shoot acrylic paint.  Personally, I like the chartreuse/brown but know you have a purple/blue fetish. ;D

Man, that looks nice.  You lure maker guys are amazing.
