Blue AYU

Featured Replies

I decided to try and work up an Ayu pattern, so I did a Google image search for "Ayu"......after being forced to search through dozens of pics of cute Japanese chicks with the name, I found some nice photos of some Ayu. The coloration really seems to vary a lot, but I like the fish with blueish hues (lower).

Here's my initial take on it.....

Lots of shine if you bend it into the sun....

You did a good job on that last pic.

Your pretty talented with that brush. The colors look good. I like the pattern

That is awesome work. Did you airbrush the photo of the human ayu too?  ;D :o j/j

I have never heard of that species.  Where are they native?

Alright Jon, just stop it, I can see an intervention in your future.

Beautiful work.

Jon, you just suck.   You've painted like 10 baits now and you could paint for Lucky Craft.   I've seen all the big name painter's work and you are ahead of most right now.   That bait looks as good or better than any I've seen or painted myself.    I'm very jealous of your talent with the airbrush.

I couldn't have said it better myself!! I would love to get that some of my LC RC3.5RT's!!!! If you were to charge someone to paint their own baits, what would you charge??

Fantastic job!

I have a few Yo-Zuri cranks in ayu color.  They actually do very well for me.

Well done!!!

I could see that paint scheme kicking butt here.

I'm going to take quite a bit of time to thoroughly test and evaluate my paint / prep system for durability before actually considering selling or offering any repaints.

Thanks for the kind words, though!

I love to see when someone takes pride in their work!!! BTW, what kind of crankbait is that???

It's a Storm something or other I had laying around.  I just kind of grab practice plugs at random.  I don't think I've ever even fished it before.  ;D

Stringjam, all of your baits are flat-out amazing. You just started painting baits and you are already light-years ahead of me.
