Fishing Around Springfield Mo

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm moving down to Springfield for college, and I'm curious about the fishing there. I know about Lake Springfield, but is there any other lakes worth fishing? I don't own a boat or anything so if there's some smaller lakes I definetely would like to know about those. I can't find much on the internet unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated!!

You'll be about half an hour from a little lake called Table Rock  :eyebrows:   Fellows Lake is just northeast. It produced the longest muskie on record from Missouri not too long ago. Taneycomo is a straight shot down 65 for trout and largely overlooked bass.

James River for smallmouth, Table Rock if lakes are your bag, Taney for trout and if you choose Pomme de Terre for muskie.

You will be only a short distance from lots of great fishing. Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Stockton, Fellows, Taneycomo, McDaniel, Lake Springfield, and lots of rivers.

I also went to school in Springfield (MO State) and I can speak from personal experience that all the fishing opportunities can easily distract you from your studies.

Also, check out ozarkanglers.com for lots of great info
