Daiwa T3 Ballistic Oppinions?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about getting one and upgrading the spool and bearrings to use as a finesse style baitcaster. What do you guys think? I normally use okuma reels and love them. But they can't be upgraded like the daiwa

For what it's worth, I picked one up at a pawn shop for $60 and I enjoy it. The level wind has developed a small nick in it. I'd say keep an eye on it if you plan on using it for finesse

May not be that good of a finesse reel. I would look at the Alphas SV for what you want. 100% ready to fish out of the box with no upgrades needed unless you wanted to toss some Hedgehog Air bearings or add a slightly longer handle.

Get a finesse spool for it. Its got the best braking system that Daiwa has to offer.

I've used mine stock to throw 1/8 oz. shaky head trick worms. Ballistics will bomb heavier lures, but are very versatile on the low end as well IMO.

if you are looking for a left hand 6:3 ballistic, i can beat that price

Im looking for a right hand in 7.1

I have a T3 1016 and felt the need to switch to an sv spool for finesse presentations. So while the ballistic model is probably great for 3/8 and up, I wouldn't buy it for a finesse reel. That said, I think they are excellent reels and you're getting a good deal.

I second the alphas sv because although you can get an SV 1000 spool for the ballistic, it will be altogether about the same cost and won't be as light or effective.
