No problems here.

If they're ceramic, you'll never have any grooving from line.

I've had one failure from micros. A guide ring popped out.

Keep in mind I have over 1000 micros in service - some since Feb 2008.

That's 1 failure over 1000 guides. I'm happy with that %.

No line cuts. The ring material is the same as in larger guides. No difference there.

Regarding line grooving, micros should perform just like regular guides with the same materials.  Regarding ring retention, it's specific to the design and manufacture of the ones you are using. I had one ring of a micro tiptop pop out, the only one I had used at that time.  Regarding damage in moving rods around in and out of the rod locker, they should be much more durable since it is really difficult to snag them as they are so small.  Overall, I expect it is like any other new product, time will tell.

They aren't new. They have been used for over the last 20 years in Asia and Europe. They are just new to the US and bass fishing.

Micro guides are nothing new in the US either. The year that Diawa first came out with the long spool (Aero) reels, they also brought out the Aero spinning rods with micro guides. Back than they were called match guides and used in Europe and other places for many years before that.

G Loomis has used them on the light line 1141 steelhead rods since day one and many others have also.

There is a huge difference between a match guide which sit very high off the blank and the micro guides that are being used on bass rods. The micro guides are really fly guides in a size 3, 3.5, or 4 and are tight to the blank.
