Finesse Rod?

Featured Replies

Okay so I am deadser on getting a Dobyns, but for my finesse spinning rig should i get the medium or medium light power? My choices in length are 7' if I get the Fury, and 6'9" or 7' if I get the Savvy Micro Guide.

I use a ultra light but a ML will probably suit you best. I mostly fish finnesse and i prefer ml or ul because you can bomb a small fluke or worm a real long way. And ive never had a problem setting the hook. I use 10lb nanofil on a 6lb sniper leader and i watch my line at all times

Anywere in between 6'10 and 7'1 would be fine just depends on were you are fishing

If you are going to have 1 finesse stick make it a medium power, it is more versatile and can fish a wider range of baits. There is no industry standard so one medium can be another's medium light, I'm not sure if Dobyns powers are the same across the lines. Length is easy, if you are looking at fishing places where a premium is put on accuracy then 6' to 6'6" will fit the bill nicely, if you need some versatility like accuracy and distance then look no further than the 6'8" to 6'10" range and for fishing deep water or where distance is a premium, 7' and up but to be honest I have a 6'6", a 6'9", and a 7' and the 6'9" is the sweet spot.

It depends on what you consider finesse? Seeing as you are in TX then I'll assume you're mostly chasing LM vs the SM that I target here in MI waters, which have relatively much more water clarity I use what I would consider the perfect finesse spinning setup: a DX702SF and 2500 reel with 7 lb Sniper. I also use a DX742SF for deeper water/heavier sinkers and around cover. I would agree the medium power (703SF) may be the right choice for where you fish. And definitiely get the 7 footer unless your rod locker is limited.
