Hey guys, new to the forum. I have been living in Sunrise for about 3 years, just recently started bass fishing. I am having trouble finding a good spot and technique for my area ( I have been using mostly Texas rigged worms). Any help with the right lures or spots would be greatly appreciated!

 

 

Welcome to BR Javi. From what I have seen, Sunrise has canals, and ponds in the industrial parks. Google earth can also be a big help for you in this situation. One of my techniques is to throw a frog into  nice green vegetation. If there is nice bass in that area, a frog is pretty tough to pass up. Also try speed worms burned on top, and flukes. If the fish are somewhat active they will look at these baits. Good luck

Lots of good bass in Sunrise. Try fishing the middle river canal and the lakes closer to the west.

There are a few spots out there that are great!!! The canalways and google investigation can be a good way to find openings and spots to fish. 

 

1) 595 Canal way close to 75. 

 

2)Markham Park

 

3) The canals around are usually good. Try NW 86th ave in Sunrise in an apartment complex, you can google earth it and see there are 3 waterways meeting and splitting. You should be able to Bank Fish around there. Apartments Called Los Prados or something. Its actually plantation. 

You can also check out sunrise lakes area. Places to pull over and bank fish. 

i use goggle maps to fins all my huney holes..il scout out a few ponds,lakes,canals in the everglades and then go on my atv to fish them,,ive found some killer huney holes using goggle maps

Welcome to the forum... Anywhere you can wet a line is a good spot. Unless your fishing in a fountain in front of an apt complex there are tons bass to be caught around here lol. Seriuosly though Sunrise and the surronding cities have endless spots to walk and bank fish. Like others said look on google map to pick out some spots then go out and hit them up. Are you having trouble getting bites or hook-ups? What type of set-up are you using? Texas rig is a great technique to use around here. Stick bait, crawdads and 7.5 worms should do the trick. Slow and patience is key, especially around times of cold fronts. Top water baits can be used just about year round also. Main kinds are prop baits, walk the dog style, and frogs hollow body and soft plastic. If you want to speed things up a bit, try throwing a weightless fluke. Their deadly around here and fun to fish, especially when the bite is on. 

Ok guys, late post. I went out this past Sunday, nice and Early at a spot suggested to me on this post(thanks for the tips guys). I was fishing a Texas rigged senko in green pumpkin. I decided I needed to slow my technique down, and boy did it help. I hooked up with a snakehead (my first ever) and 2 LMB (one decent size and one small guy).

 

 

 

Where'd you catch the snakehead?  Love me some snakehead fishing!
