Help getting started with Lure painting

Featured Replies

I've just recently joined this forum, but been fishing for awhile.

Anyways, I started making my own topwater plugs recently, mainly out of balsa.

Making them hasn't been the difficult part. I cannot paint them with just spray paints. I tried, but the effect is rather bland.

I would like to start airbrushing my lures; i've heard thats the most effective way to paint.

Is there anyway I can get started with an airbrush for under 100-200 bucks?

Thanks in advance.

Lefthandreel.

you can get airbrushing kits at wallmart for model cars and start from there theyare under $100 and come with lots fo differnt tips and  and should be a good way to get started with air brushing

Did you do a search in here on the topic of airbrushes or paints? There are many posts in here on the subject. If you think you will stick with it, get yourself a decent airbrush right off. Cheap equipment will frustrate and deter you.

couldn't agree more.

i bought myself an Iwata Revolution BR airbrush for 72 bucks. its a nice brush, and it will last me until i decided i want to upgrade (i really don't NEED to upgrade, this is a pretty good brush). i also got a little 1.5 gallon small tool air compressor from home depot for 100 bucks. then i spent around 80 bucks on paint from WASCO.
