Buzzbait and spinnerbait questions
Hi, I recently bought, some spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, they claimed to be 1/4 oz, but they looked larger than my 3/8 oz spinnerbait from strike king. So I put them on a scale, and the "1/4 oz" baits actually weighted out between 14.6 and 14.9 grams or a lil over 1/2 oz each. While the 3/8 oz from strike king was a lil closer to its claimed weight at 12.3 grams. Maybe im missing something or maybe there is a reason the "1/4 oz" baits where only a dollar. Now I recived a buzzbait from strike king that claims the weight is "3/8 oz" but placing it on the scale reveals an actual weight of 18.8 grams ,almost double the claimed weight. Im trying to figure out if some of these lures are too large for my rod which is rated for lures in the 1/4 to 3/8 oz range. Thoughts?

Rod Selection: The Basics
my 4 rod collection has been put together, in an attempt to take advantage of the fishing spots that I frequent, while staying within a moderate budget. My main rod is a 7' MXF 6.4:1 baitcaster with #12 Fluorocarbon, This is Used mainly for Texas rigged Worms\Craws, Spinner baits, Fish head spins, Jigs and weightless Senkos, my most used techniques and lures. 6'6" MHF 6.2:1 Baitcaster, with #40 braid, Used mainly for Topwater Frogs, Jitterbugs, Poppers, and with the addition of a fluoro leader, for bigger jigs and plastics in areas with lots of vegetation where braid is a better choice of line. 6'6" MF 5.2:1 Spinning with #8 mono , used for weightless worms, and smaller, lighter lures. 6'6" 2-Piece MF 5.2:1 Spinning with #20 Fireline Crystal "Fused superline" this is my car rod,has worked as a great all around rod, that can stay in the car and being 2 piece it stays out of the way. Im planning on adding a crankbait setup, Something 7' to 7'6" MMF would work for my need, Im pretty sold on the Abu Garcia Orra Winch combo. Though some searching has lead me to the BPS pro Qualifier reels, and im wondering for shallow to mid crankbaits, if the 4.7:1 or the 5.2:1 would be better

Braid Snapping On A Cast
wow already read a few people advice against using some of the Lines, I use, maybe thats why I got them on clearance. I have been Using, 12# Vanish for leaders, only had issues with break off from the thinner #12 spiderwire stealth braid diggin into the fluoro and cutting it, only learned this after pulling on the knot and seeing it happen tried different knots and eventually found the Gt knot to work best for me when mating braid to fluoro but the thin braid would wear and fray fast ,I matched diameters between the two with some Berkely Fusion #50 braid havent had any breakage issues and many fish on the same line and leader, this is on a 7'3" MXF with a revo s, that i pretty much use for everything, though moslty soft plastics, weedless frogs, and theoccasionla spinnerbait, even though i have had success, and long life from this combo i feel like the diameters are lil too thick and now that my spools are empty i can try something else, thinking of 10# fluoro with #30 braid might be better and more limp. I like using a palomar knot at the tackle end and the gt knot to connect the braid to the FC

What Rod Would You Pair With The Pflueger 6940 Reel?
I have the 6935 which i just got 2 days ago, and i think this is the optimal size for me, i feel like the 30 maybe is a lil small in my hands, I got the combo comes with a medium 6.6 which feels pretty good but it wont get fished until Saturday.it feels a lil short but im used to my 7'3" MXF we will see this weekend. I Did have a berkley lightning shock rod with an abu silver max that i used for crankbaits, and I really thought it was good in that situation, Imho It feels a lil noodly for the kinda work I use spinning set ups for. but they are well built, if you like slower action rods. id say is a good choice. and falls right in the budget. I would also recommend the field & Stream tec spec rods got mine from Dick's, my main all arounder is aElite 7'3" MXF e with a Abu revo s, I use the rod for everything as long as i dont have cover, i most use it on my friends boat or while fishing a pond that walking distance from me, it has been durable and quite sensitive, it was a tad heavier than the comparable all star and abu garcia rods. I got mine on clearance when the elites went from gray ( the one i got) toa different color patern, they usually are $60, got mine on clearance for $30. I figured if i didnt like it, it was only $30, this rod is my fave and hold my favorite reel.

Line For Pflueger President And Trion Spinning Reel\rod
I forgot to mention the reel is a 6935, it claims 155yds at #10 mono. I did read that Yozuri Hybrid is stronger and thicker for the rating , so maybe a 6# line from them might work better, but is it really worth the extra $8 over trilene big game or maybe even the $13 over zebco omniflex?

Line For Pflueger President And Trion Spinning Reel\rod
Hi every one, went to Walmart to pick up some tackle and an Inexpensive rod for my GF,Drove a lil further to a store that has a lil more fishing gear than the one one near me, pretty much was set on getting her a Shakespeare cirrus combo, I've had a few in the past, they work pretty good, are sensitive, and look good, I misplaced my first one, broke the second and third. they are usually around $30, was on rollback at the store for $25. But ended up findind an clearance deal on a Pflueger president and a Trion combos, both were marked down with the crank handles taped to the fore grip, The President has a sticker that reads $19.74 when I first saw it and grabbed it, I i thought, this is a $45 reel! so as long as that works good, its worth it, Screwed the arm in and works great, rod looks good and feels good too. the Trion had a Red Bar code sticker with no price on it, price checked at $19.88, Screwed the arm in, and that one works great too, Im thinking that the arms screwed off and the maybe they thought it was broken or something, or possibly they where returned items, either way I got a sweet deal I think. Any way, Not im thinking that 50# braid and 12#fluoro (left over from my baitcasters) might be a lil much for these rods, I also have a Spool of 12#mono, Im thinking maybe some 10# mono or Fluoro might work better, the rods will be used for shore fishing mostly using soft plastics as well as used to go after panfish when the bass arent biting. So i could get some 8# or 10# fluoro since they had some for spiderwire ez fluoro on rollback, or maybe pick up some 6# yozuri Hybrid, or just get some cheap #8 or 10# mono. thanks for your help guys!

Central Florida Cross Species Tackle Inshore\bass Help
I will have to try the zara spooks, i have had good results with floating tube\worm hybrids in the past I have never tried a shrimp for bass, have used crawdads in the past with no success. I have tried artificial shrimp for inshore, with no results, maybe im doing it wrong, and swim baits i have never tried, unless a fluke counts? i dunno i tried fishing it like a weedless rigged worm. Did not get the results i get with the worm. and i have lost every rattle trap ive bough, in the first 30 to 45 mins of use, lol i too many weeds in my lakes and rivers, but have never tried for inshore, so will have to get a couple. 4 more techniques to practice next outing!
