It's getting to be that time of year again. I'm headed up to the greater Rochester area in about 2 weeks. I was wondering if any of the locals to the area know if the run has started yet? How much water is in the creeks right now? 

 

Hopefully someone here is local and can provide some insight. Thanks guys!

Oswego and salmon rivers were low. Finally getting some rain and the first good push. The rivers will likely blow up for a bit but hopefully be good in two weeks. Check out the Salmon River Fishing Reports Facebook page. It gets lots of feedback.

They have been catching em. Kings, cohos, and some browns over the last fee days

I live right next to Oak orchard, Johnson and Sandy creek in Orleans county. Johnson and oak both have fish running oak is pretty packed already with the tourists chasing salmon and Browns. Johnsons I've jade a few nice kings on already but it's not as strong as the oak is right now but this rain should definitely help. Sandy creek o haven't really checked even though it runs threw my back yard pretty much but it's a new creek for me I grew up on the oak and johnsons. The oak has been high all year. Chartreuse come headed wooly buggers have been my best fly pattern so far for them but a co worker and the out of towners are all tossing egg sacks and limiting out fairly quick.

Had a tough trip with very few fish in the creeks. Guys literally "driving" the creeks really made things difficult later in the week. Still had some success.

I'll be fishing the Salmon River next week and will post, but reports I've been reading the past several weeks have not been enthusiastic about what's going on. A few pods have come up the river but no great quantity.
