Split Grip Handle Kits For New Build rod

Featured Replies

I was hoping someone on here could give me their opinion on these split grip handle kits. http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/CRB-Custom-Handle-System/CRB-Handle-System-1

I have been out of the rod building game for a few years and have a couple of questions on these. How is the graphite tube on these for sensitivity? Is the actual rod blank exposed on the reel seat, or is it the tube? And finally, can these be shortened? I am sure they can, just wanted to be sure. Thanks in advance.

Have never used Mud Hole's split grip kits. Have always turned my own.

Don't know what the mounting tube is, do know the seat is a ECSM 17 (exposed casting seat 17mm ID)..

Me I would want to know if the seat is a Fuji series II and not one of the older ECSM's, that had a hard time holding most reel feet solid...

They say in the write up the kit handles start at 201/2" and can be shortened, as for the seat, the front threads can be cut to shorten the span to match shorter reel feet dimensions.

Just the .02 of an old builder....

Good Luck & Tight Wraps!

I haven't used that specific kit but have ordered form Mudhole with great results. There is a tech dept. email on their site that I have used. They'll get back to you quickly with detailed answers to your questions. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Good luck.
