Daiwa Vs. Shimano: New Spinning Reel

So if I got the sustain for the same price as the ci4+ on eBay would it be worth it? It's basically between those two and the certate at this point. I'm also trying to picture in my head what would look the best with the k2... Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

Yes, well worth it,,,, I have trouble not buying one and don't know why I don't need it, but I have stuff in the safe now I don't need, but I know I can't loose money if I decide to get rid of it.

I am sorry but yes the bearing and the rapid fire adjustment most will agree both are preferable drag enhancements,,,, but you could change them also with the rest of the items you want to remove from the subject and totally justify your comment. I fish them all and yes the smoother faster start up from the bearing mounted lighter carbon rotor is very noticeable unless you want to compare diferent sizes to make that point moot also,,,,,,, :rolleyes7:

Roll eyes huh. Bearing mounted carbon rotor???? You'll have to explain that one. Like I said if you remove the rotor and handle the 2 reels are identical. If the bearing and drag knob are worth the price increase to some that's fine. I do like the handle on the sustain but it's not worth the price difference to me.

Hey Joe. I am a dyed in the wool shimano guy but I have five different certate models. You can not buy a better spinning reel for the money. The certate is a poor mans Stella st basically half the price. Buy JDM at the current yen versus dollar prices. I own three different stradic models for the record.

I agree the certate is in a different league than the stradics and sustain. The luvias is another reel to consider. The luvias and certate are both made in Japan also.

Looking for a good spinning reel $200+ for either a megabass orochi xx or possibly a new phenix k2. Normally I'm a shimano guy (all my current reels are shimano) but I've been looking around and have heard good things about the daiwa certate: http://japantackle.com/spinning-reels/daiwa/standard-models/daiwa-2013certate.html and am not opposed to giving one a shot. Trying to decide between this and the new stradic. Would appreciate reviews from people who have used either or have other reccomendations in the $200-$400 price range. thanks

Joe, just curious, what will be the main uses(s) for this setup?

Joe, just curious, what will be the main uses(s) for this setup?

7'1" ML k2, 2500 size reel. Will be used for 1/8-1/4 ounce dropshot, tubes, grubs shakeyheading etc. It'll cover most of what I do with a spinning rod. Line will be 12 lb braid to a 6 lb Fluoro leader.

Roll eyes huh. Bearing mounted carbon fiber rotor???? You'll have to explain that one. Like I said if you remove the rotor and handle the 2 reels are identical. self explanatory if you use a drag,,,If you lock em down like a casting reel with 50# line,, it don't matter and means nothing, on my spinning I usually run very light leaders, no the bearing is not used to cast,,,,,

Hmmm I'm totally confused. You said bearing mounted carbon rotor.

I understand what the bearing under the spool is for. I've caught a lot of big fish on my fjs and sustains(before I sold them) and the difference in drag smoothness is pretty much unnoticeable.

Other than the drag, rotor material, and handle the two reels are Identical.

Sustain on the way, I'll post pics when I get it and the k2! Should be a nice combo.
