To Many Places To Fish?

Featured Replies

I never really thought it could be possible for that to be a problem. In Ohio North East to be exact where I am from there is not enough. Places are kinda few and far between and most are crap or a good drive to a place that's half way decent.

Well being in Florida like I am currently there is places everywhere I look. So many of the places look like the definetly hold some good fish for sure. I haven't been here since I was much younger and I could of care less back then. It makes your imagination kinda go wild with possibilities with all the places and potential for giant fish relatively speaking.

Mined Wildlife Area in SE KS is like that. 1,500 acres of water spread out over 200 strip pits plus countless pits they don't count because they're too small, but still plenty big to hold a monster fish.

There is a place kinda similar to that in ohio. Its called the AEP recreation lands. It is massive and has tons of natural ponds everywhere. But it is basically all straight up forest and just getting to some places would be a undertaking.

In just 2 neighboring counties in Wisconsin, Vilas and Oneida, there are over 1,800 lakes covering over 280 square miles of water. Many of them have largemouth bass, a lot have smallies and there are also walleyes, northerns, muskies and pan fish. The bass are seldom targeted by the locals. One big reason I plan on living there during the open water season, May through October when I retire in a couple of years.

Just remember that unlike Ohio, Florida has an bunch of poisonous snakes, and alligators, so don't just start crusing random shorelines without knowing the area!

Florida has only 4 species of poisonus snakes, only 3 in the peninsula.

Unless they have been fed by people, gators will not mess with you.

Suggest you choose the path less taken.

We have very few handicapped places for me to fish. Luckily I have six places that's not far from the car. I have some bigger lakes a was logging at back in the day I have on reserve. Time to strap the fishing rod on the bike and sneak in.

It is to bad I went to 2 different walmarts and had to see what was there obviously. It's pretty terrible. I could not find 1 off set hook. I finally found a couple at the second one . There was a couple inside that crappy little pack that as assorted bass hooks. There was also no weights except some steel egg weights. They do sell some awesome mustard tools and not the KVD stuff.

Two bulls stood on a hill. They looked down on a valley where a dozen cows grazed.

The young bull said, "Hey Pop, let's run down there and make love to one of those heifer."

"No, Son," said the old bull. "Let's WALK down there and make love to ALL those heifers."

MORAL OF STORY: TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY EACH BODY OF WATER.

I've always had the open invitation to any member that wants to come to Kansas to fish. If I'm available I'd be more than willing to take anyone out and show them how truly bad the fishing is here  :laugh5:

There are parts of FL that have tons of places to fish. Throw a boat in the mix and seems like its exponential. Lol.. As far as snakes and gators go, keep your head on a swivel and watch where you step and you will be good. If you happen to see one of these species, just make sure you respect their space. If a gator happens to be following you in the water, then its probably been fed by humans. Leave the area and move on to the next spot.

Every freshwater body of water in Florida except bathtubs and swimming pools has a population of bass, and almost every square mile of Florida has multiple freshwater bodies of water. Caught a fat bass this morning in a little canal behind my house that was only one foot deep not including the mud. It was also teeming with bream, minnows, cichlids and a cadre of fat old gar. Florida's just a lucky place to be, fishingwise.
