I'm making the trip up to Pickwick this weekend and I am hoping to be lucky enough to catch my first ever smallmouth, and I have never been on the lake, so my question is does anybody have any tips on general areas you can catch a smallmouth? Also any general types of baits that catch smallmouth on the lake? Also I'm not asking for exact spots or baits, just general knowledge. Thanks!'

Points, humps. Crankbaits should be good. 5 inch smoke grub has probably put more smallies in the boat at Pickwick than the next two best lures combined, if you could only throw one.

you can catch them this time of year at the dam drifting live bait...and the bait that I have caught the most on at the lake has been a Strike King rage craw in watermelon rigged on a shakey head
