Clip that Stacy King was using??

Featured Replies

On sundays The Bass Pros Stacy King was showing how he rigged his texas rigged plastics. He put this real small clip on his line and he wrapped it around the hook. Doe any one know exactly what kind of clip he was using and where to get it?? :-?

Its called a parasite clip, there is actually a topic in this section on it recently  ;D. You can make them out of paperclips if you want to give em a shot, atleast thats what I'm trying.  :-[

What is it for?

You can get them at basspro if they aren't on backorder!

They are used to keep plastics from sliding down the hook. Instead, I've been using small black barrel swivel and it works very well on my weightless plastics like flukes or ikas. Got the rigging idea from bassmaster magazine.

To rig the swivel:

1. Thread your line through one end of a small swivel. (swivel is not tied to the line)

2. Tie your hook to the line.

3. Rig the nose of your plastic just like you normally would on the hook and slide it up over the eye of the hook.

4. Take the hook and thread it through the open end of your swivel and pull the swivel all the way up under the nose of the bait.

5. Skin hook or rig rest of your plastic the way you normally would.

Here's drawing of the idea.

basscat73, you just reminded me that I heard about using swivels for this years ago, but had never tried 'em.  I was the one that started the other topic on the parasite clips and I am amazed at how well they work.  Do the swivels work as well?  The only concern I might have is that the swivels are heavier than the clips and might change the action of the lures.

BTW, MattStrykul, if you figure out how to do it, be sure and let us know - I think it looks easier than it really is.

It's super easy to rig and they work well for me. I use the smallest swivel I can get away with that will fit over the hook barb. The swivel doesn't add much weight, but probably a bit more than the clip.
