Fishing Man Cave

Featured Replies

I'm starting to gather old reels, rods, nets and lures for my office/man cave. Anyone out there have one already and can share a pic for ideas?

I know many have garages full of stuff but I'm looking at wife approved decor. LOL

While I don't have anything yet. I am thinking the father-in-law and I might build a display case this winter. Something for my old/rare lures. But also the lure that caught my son's first fish and the one my wife caught a 5+lber on.

Things like that.

Isn't that a contradiction of "Man Cave"

You can have an office.  You can have a man cave.   Trying to combine the two doesn't do either any justice.   If you want neat stuff to hang on the wall of your office, I think shelves for trinkets is the way to go - unless you don't want to dust them - then a display case is in order.    My insurance agent has in his office a glass enclosed coffee table with a 20 something pound peacock bass mounted inside, a replica of one he caught in Brazil.   He has a net hanging on the wall with all sorts of old lures hanging from the net.   There is a plethora of old  60's & 70's era rods & reels, mostly spin cast stacked in a few large ceramic jars in the different corners of his office.  Lots of cool stuff.   Last time I was in the office there was so much stuff piled on the coffee table you couldn't see the fish - one of the perils of a working office.

In my man cave - (a 40 by 30 shed that I keep my boat, truck and assorted stuff in ) there are half a dozen folding chairs.   Last time I looked, they were all piled with stuff that I wanted to keep off the floor for some reason.   When I want to sit down I will either:  A - up end a 5 gallon bucket and sit on that or B- Drive my mobile lawn chair ( a Kawasaki Mule) to the front door and sit in that.

I'm really glad I don't have to worry about fishing decor in the house.  It's all over the house because my wife loves fishing.  Woke up yesterday to my wife watching Bill Dance!

...Ya...I'm braggin'  :)

Both my mother and the wife have decorated their respective summer homes with fishing themed stuff. Kind of artsy crafty stuff. My mom's décor is more of a nautical theme with an out of place skin mount bass my dad caught. The wifes is more of a northwoods theme. The wall in my house where the fireplace is has 3 skin mounts, some big bass awards, and pictures going back to maybe the 1950's until present of family fishing pictures. I've got some antique rods that belonged to my grandfather, but those haven't been hung yet
