Daiwa Zillion Tws Clutch Fix?

Featured Replies

Let me start off - I love this reel. Trying to figure out if I need to get it serviced. Reel is a little over a year old and at times during a hard cast, the clutch will seemingly disengage a little bit and you will hear this awful awful grinding sound. The knobs go completely limp and I have to ensure that clutch is all the way down for it to disengage.

Has this happened to anyone else? Easy Fix? It's quite hard to describe but it seems that over time - if it continues to happen, I'm sure the internal components get a little messy. Seems to happen when I tend to fish quite fast and I might not be pressing the Clutch all the way in.

How does a clutch disengage during a cast when it's already disengaged when you're casting ...? Are you sure you're explaining that correctly? What do you mean by knobs go limp. The knobs are mounted on a shaft..

If you mean the real is re-engaging itself in the middle of a cast, Remove the handle side cover and there's a little spring that attaches the frame of the real to the clutch mechanism. Make sure that seated correctly. Also make sure the two Springs that sit on each side of the pinion are seated correctly. Springs that sit on each side of the pinion are seated correctly. There's also a clutch plate underneath the maingear make sure that seated correctly and snug on the driveshaft.
