Dobyns Fury 704C Vs. *** 2 Black Mh 7'1"

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has used these two rods? Any noticable differences between the 2? Action? Power? They are rated both up to 1 oz, but was wondering if one feels like a stronger backbone, etc. Tip action, sensitivity? Any input is appreciated. Thank you

I can't speak on the Fury 704 but I have a Dx 704. Dobyns overrates their rods. Their 4 power is a lot closer to a 3 power. So it'll fish like a typical mh rod. It seems like you're already aware of that though since you're comparing it to another mh rod. I have a medium g2o and it's a nice little rod. I could see myself buying another. I have a fury 705cb but since it's a crankbait rod it's not exactly a great comparison. I do like it though.

sounds like both are decent rods, just wonder if one is maybe better suited for something vs another type of lures...im thinking this will be an all around rod but spinnerbaits/swimjigs/chatterbaits being the primary use...

I have a Savvy 704, it's got a nice tip for spinnerbaits. I'd say it's perfect for 1/2 spinnerbaits and chatterbaits.

I owned a Savvy 703C and I thought it was a better rod than most people gave it credit for, but I would take my Gen 1 and Gen 2 Ommen over it. I understand it is a different rod than a Fury, but that is all I have to compare to.

I've used a fury rod once before, and I didn't see all that much of a difference between that and the savvy. It didn't see much action, but that's all I could get from just fishing it.

I have the one which shall not be named (couple of inches shorter) and love it to death. 100% would purchase another. Great sensitivity and overall quality.

Do you have the Crankbait version of the (not to be named) rod?
