Advice On Gloomis Imx 904 Swb For 2-3Oz Swimbaits.

Featured Replies

Buying a rod for 2oz range soft baits lIke hud 68 special, matlures ultimate blue gill, huddgill, and bigger non rigged baits like the smashtech head smasher xxl. Probably throw some 168 glides as well. Pretty much have it narrowed down to the gloomis imx 904c swb. Anybody fish these or any other rods like this. I like a 7'6 rod for this purpose because I like to skip these baits. I'm throwing all these baits on an 8 footer now, and feel I could do better with a shorter rod. Also sensitivity is important. I like to bottom bump thsee baits. I fish the ultimate bluegill almost like a jig. Thanks

Other rods I'd consider maybe is a crucial, Irod , or a skinner rod if anyone has any water time with these sticks. My first choice would be a megabass white python. But it's not quite in the budget

1 rod can't do it all perfectly.

I fish both Hudd and Matt's soft plastic bluegill on a 5 power jig rod.

68 Hudds on the same rod as the 8" Hudds, heavy swimbait rod rated for 3-10 oz lures.

I see. my rod now over powers the smaller baits and doesn't load the rod for good casts. I figured I could use 68's and Matt gill on the same rod. Because they are similar in weight.

The Matt's 5" Ultimate Gil is nearly 2 oz, the 68 Hudd about 2 1/2 oz and casts heavier when wet. A MH swimbait rod like Irod SB Jr. Works for both.
