Best way to go about making a soft plastic mold

Featured Replies

I have been drawing up a new soft bait and am looking for tips and advice on making a mold to produce this bait

Thanks

Well that leaves a lot of gray areas. What you will be making the "master" model from will dictate what you can make the mold with. If you will be using wood, you will have to seal the wood and then your best bet would be RTV silicon. If you are using wax, then you can go with plaster or Durhams water putty. Or fibergalss resin. Each material has it's plus and minus.

which way is best you think wood, wax... could I use soap for the master. I have never made my own mold before. The geek in me is wanting to jump on the mac 3D the thing and then CAD it out

if you have cad and a cnc there ya go. 8-)

If i did that what should I make it out of? Aluminum or wood,  or a block of PVC... I'm kinda clueless

X2 probably pricey though. Aluminum would probably be your best bet on a master that you want to use over and over agin though.
