New batch of cranks- Popper update

Featured Replies

Lately I've been experimenting with photo-finishes on my baits. Also, I tried a new (for me) scaling technique on a suspending jerkbait I built. Actually the jerkbait is a slow sinker, but I'm pretty pleased with it. I also tried knocking off the Bomber Model 4A. I have no way of comparing it to the real thing, but I like how it turned out.

I used printer paper on two of the photo-finished baits in this batch and tissue paper for the other one. The tissue-papered bait is much more reflective, but the details on the other two baits stand out a lot more. It was also easier to get a wrinkle-free finish with the printer paper.

Let me know what you think.

The baits look good but what is that bait in pic #2.

The second bait is a new popper proto I've been working on.  It has a lexan popping lip and utilizes the same B5 body I used on most of my other baits in this batch.  From the limited testing I've done so far, it doesn't look like it will "walk the dog" very well but it throws a huge splash when jerked.

How does the bait swim at a steady pace?   I thought you might have made a jitter bug type bait.   Very cool.

Scales are kool.

Nice work on all of them.  ;)

I haven't tested it very much yet, but I'll report how it works when I do.

I tested the popper with the lexan lip.  It throws a huge splash when the rod is jerkeed at about a 45[ch730] angle.  With the rod angle much higher than that it may jump out of the water, and if the rod angle is to low than the lure rolls on it's back and dives.  On a steady retrieve it burbles (for lack of a better word) on top, creating a considerable wake.  I need to do some work to get it working the way I want, but for a first try it works pretty good.
