Interested in learning how to fish for bass, live in the Portland area.  I saw the thread about Oregon lakes, didn't want to hijack it, thought I would ask some questions if you don't mind.

Any recommendations on books/dvds, etc for help in learning? I am going thru and reading the articles on this forum, lots of good info

I have a kayak, am interested in fishing the Columbia, any good articles availible that talks about spotting "good bass water", techniques, etc?

Fishing some of the lakes, ie: tenmile etc:  I know that many of them host tournaments, I do not wish to interrupt any ones tourney, is there an etiquette rule besides, "don't horn in on someones spot" as far as tourneys go?

Check out IFISH.net in the bass section....Oregon has a unique stand on bass.  It's kind of like if its not salmon/trout/or steelhead it doesn't deserve any water rights.  Columbia is awesome...Personally from Hood River on up....backwaters in the spring....main river later.  There's bass down below but above is awesome.

Appreciate the info, will check ifish out, and the work on learning the rivers.  Would think there would be some outstanding basswater in Tenn, good luck.

Love Tennessee now and love the souths attitude on fishing

Just above the bonneville dam has been a good spot for me.  I normally fish jerkbaits and tubes around rocky areas like Cascade Locks.  It gets particularly good when juvenile shad make their way down during the late summer.

Fished the Willamette in the sellwood downtown area during the early summer months and slayed smallies averaging in the 2.5 pound range on up to 5. Most fish were on dropshot and jigs, but the biggest were on topwater like buzzebaits and Zara spooks.
