Muddy water line

Featured Replies

The lake I fish is REALLY muddy. I think the visibility is under 4 inches. I don't think visibility with braid will be an issue so is braid just better when you can get away with it. Or braid with a leader? Thanks in advance

I fish clear water all the time with nothing but braid and no leader. Visibility is not an issue for me.

So do you think braid is better than other lines minus visibility?

I don't know what you mean by "minus visibility".  I don't believe that visibility matters. I like braid for all my fishing. It works for me. Your fishing situation is more than likely different from mine, and different from a lot of people. You can listen to all sorts of different views here on these forums, but in the end you have to decide what works best for you.

Is braid good for t rigs and spinnerbaits? And should you always have a fluoro leader?

I don't like straight braid for moving baits, or around hard surfaces like rocks or shells because it lacks the abrasion resistance. Braid is good for contact baits like jigs and t rigs and you shouldn't need a leader in muddy water like what you're describing.

I'd use straight braid then, even in clear water I use straight braid, except for my cranking which is on 12lb mono, I want to switch to fluoro when I use up my reserve.
