Before this year I hated spinnerbaits, never caught a single fish on them. After having some phenomenal success this summer with them and finally figuring out how to fish them right, I've fallen in love. I've gone from 2 (plus a handful of older ones I never used, and subsequently traded) to... (opens spinnerbait wallet and counts) 12. Which I think is probably enough for me. I likely won't buy a ton more.

How are you fishing them?  I've bought a few spinnerbaits on sale since I read so much about them but I haven't had much luck the few times I've tried throwing them.  Seeing some of the spinnerbait counts on this thread (over 100!) now I'm thinking there's something there that could be productive.

  • I'll guesstamate about 55-60 give or take a few. But about one third of those are designated as "Pike only baits". That's for two reason's really; first it means they've caught pike before a

It seemed like for me getting a better quality bait (War eagle) and a sensitive rod made a big difference. I was able to feel strikes a lot better and set the hook more readily (which is super important with a spinnerbait). I also changed from using chartreuse/firetiger ones to using more natural colors, and that seemed to make a big difference as well.

I'm probably somewhere in the 60-75 range. A spinnerbait is one of my confidence baits though and I don't like messing with swapping blades on the water so I have them rigged and ready to go.

3.

I like to keep it simple so I change out the blades or skirts if needed to better fit a specific situation. Or I'll just fish something else entirely if the spinnerbaits arent getting it done.

I do the same thing. I have 5-6 quality spinnerbaits with different weights and blade combinations, and I buy different color skirts to change out to match the hatch and conditions. KVD and Terminator now have skirts that are incredibly easy to change out.

Never ever had luck on spinnerbaits.

I believe I have 3 or 4.

Advice would be appreciated, Seems like people love using them!

Guessing close to 75 of all different configurations, but usually only fish with 1/4 white double willow
