Rod wrap

Featured Replies

Considering beefing up the grip on my recon and see different options from Winn grips, rod wrap, Bps and even generic tennis racket tape.

Is one better than the other? I have Winn grips knobs on my curado that are really nice....  but I'm just going for the area directly behind the reel.

I have used tennis racket tape on my catfish rods when i need more grip, works great. Keep in mind the material your rod is coated with cause sometimes it will leave a sticky mess!

Yeah that's the main thing I'm concerned about. I don't want a ton of sticky crap left on my Eva handle when I go to take it off.

I have all my rods wrapped with rescue tape,it fuses to itself, grips well and doesn't leave any residue on handle because there is no adhesive. I've been using it for years. http://www.rescuetape.com/

I've used the rod wraps and the bps version as well.  They feel great but I've had a few take small chunks out of cork handles before when I've removed them.  Probably won't have any issues with eva though.

I use the rod wraps on most of my rods.  Rod Wrap - tennis raquet tape, bicycle handlebar tape, I haven't tried the Winn Grips yet.  Once I put them on the rods I seldom remove then.  I wouldn't know if there has been any damage to the cork or not and I wouldn't be very concerned either way.

Is one thicker than the other? I wouldn't be doing the entire handle, just behind the reel.
