Great reel for a St. Croix LTB MH spinning rod for fishing crankbaits.

Featured Replies

I am looking for a great reel for a St. Croix LTB MH spinning rod for fishing crankbaits.   The nice reels I have now just are too fast.  Looking for a great 5.2:1ish reel?

IMHO way too much of a rod for crankbait fishing. Get yourself a cheap Mojo Bass rod in the right specs like a 7'medium moderate action and keep your LTB for your plastics.

I'd suggest a wide arbor spinning reel to increase your casting distance.  Pflueger has one, BPS makes them, Lews might have one as well

You are probably dislike fishing cranks with that ultra stiff setup.... But the only reel that belongs on a LTB is a Pflueger Patriarch. Together they form a combo that weighs under a pound, casts great, and as a bonus even the color schemes match.

Meh...I just picked up an Avid 7' Med/Heavy Moderate for cranks so I can't judge a guy for wanting to use a LTB for one.

The rod you purchased was designed for crank-baits, the moderate tip is perfect for them. That LTB is made for power presentations, such as jigs and texas rigs.
