Keitech vs BPS speed shad

Featured Replies

I've only used the BPS speed shad and I like it.  has anyone used both that can compare or say if the keitech is much better?

I have a ton of both the Speed shad and the Kalins sizmic shad...

The kalin's are thicker and usually harder...The Tails do come off easy from short strikers, but the 4.8" Kalin's is much bigger than the 4.8" speed shad since the speed shad is pretty much a straight taper compared to the Sizmic shad which is like the Fat Impact with a big wobble and taper...I would consider the Kalin's to have a bit less action since the Speed shad is a bit softer, but the Kalin's has a wide wobble compared to the speed shad...

I find that the Kalin's are good for swimming on the surface or when you want more of a commotion, the tail is larger etc...The biggest difference with the Keitechs are the squid scent and softness. I think the Keitechs are better than the Kalin's for sure if you fish them more than just a chuck and wind (If that is what you prefer, especially around heavy cover, then save the money) but nothing is better than the Keitech imo if you want to pause them and get the most natural movement.

I will say that I have some batches of speed shad that are super soft and do move on a jighead just like a keitech....But the consistency from both vary depending on the date they were poured..Both come from same House, different molds however....Hope that helps...The Keitechs are from a different OEM....

I was also curious to this question. I have only used Keitech Swing Impact and I wanted to know how the speed shad compares. Someone help us!

I have bought the BPS version on accident because of how similar the packaging and look of the bait is. I did notice right away that the BPS plastic was a little harder and didn't have as much action at slower speeds as the keitech. I did catch fish on them but would probably not buy them again just because I feel the keitechs are the better bait and are worth the extra $2.

i use the bps fairly regularly since i can't find Keitechs locally. they are decent but they do not preform at slow speeds (at least not as much as i would like) if you are in a pinch though they can do the trick.

As already mentioned both will work but Keitechs are just softer and work better at slower speeds IMO.

Lots of these knockoff style baits that are sold cheaper are ok alternatives though they will differ from the original they were based off of. (In this case the Keitech). Look at a Yamamoto Senko and all the copy cat baits. Softness of plastic, colors, action, & scent is why I prefer the Keitechs over other knockoff varieties...
