I have an older Team Daiwa S 6'6" glass rod that has a guide that broke at its foot. It's just been sitting on my rod rack for about a year. I've finally decided that I want to strip what's left of that guide off and wrap a new one so the rod will be functional again. I'm not looking to make it look factory, I just want a functional rod. I don't really know how to get going though and all I can find on rod repair is tip replacement or for a rod that broke in half.

What I know is that the rod uses Fuji Aluminum Oxide guides and I believe the one I broke is a size 8. I think Gander Mountain sales rod guides so I'll look there. As far as what size thread and epoxy to use I have no clue. I know that I can make a rod holder out of a cardboard box and that I can use a phone book to keep tension on the thread. Everything else I'm lost. I'd still like to do this on my own. Thanks.

Thanks for the links guys. I'm planning on ordering some Gudebrod size A nylon thread and a small package of rod finish as well as my guide. Am I missing anything?

That's all you need. The finish should come in a sample size syringe full. More than enough for one guide. Mix accurately and mix thoroughly. Cover the thread and a little past the egde onto the blank.
