I'm between theses row rods and am wondering if I should spend the extra money on the tournament bass or just get the avid x is it worth it? I'm getting a med hvy

I doubt you'll go wrong with either of those and I can't comment intelligently on the Avid X because I haven't owned one, only handled one and it felt great but very hard to tell in the store. That said I've owned an LTB and I absolutely loved it. I've owned, Triumphs, Avids, Premiers, and Mojo's in the past. If I buy another St. Croix it will be another LTB no matter what gets said.

Spinning?? Baitcaster?? What would you mainly use it for? I got a 7' medium fast Avid X casting rod on Friday . I love the way it feels. 

Casting

So SCIV is a "better" blank than SCIII, but I'm of the belief that St. Croix puts so much paint/resin/whatever on the LTB rods that you can't feel much difference. Also you may prefer the ECS seat on the Avid over the split seat on the LTB. Polarizing seat, that one.

You can't go wrong with either stick. The LTB is going to be a little bit crisper and slightly more sensitive. What your decision might really come down to is the length and taper you're looking for. Both are great rods. 

Depends on what you plan to use it for to me. If for worms, jigs, etc where sensitivity is key the ltb is a better option. For reaction or moving baits the avid would be fine. Its still a great rod and more than sensitive enough. I personally prefer the regular avid over the avid x.  Im not a fan of micro eyes. 

Avid versus LTB post from before.

I have Avids and an LTB. They are similar but very different. The LTB is definitely more sensitive and durable but the Avids are still great and sensitive in their own right. You get what you pay for really. 

It's gonna come down to which one you prefer in hand and aesthetically. They feel VERY different so if you can get hands on, do it. 

I have two Avid X castinf rods and love them. 7MF and 7MHF.  I was skeptical of the microguides, but they did improve castinf distance over similar E6X rods.
