New rod recommendations for flipping, punching, and froggin.

Featured Replies

Looking to get a bigger, heavier rod for flipping, punching, and froggin. Really looking at the ghost series by Duckett but they don't have them labeled for use of weight. I like the price point of the Ghost series. Under $100. Thanks.

Guides on the Ghost aren't great. Especially with braid. At $100 look at the Tatula XT, Dobyns Fury and you can find the Okuma TCS rods around $100 also.

The Duckett Terex series is about $150, though I'm sure you can find them cheaper on Amazon or elsewhere. Dean Rojas designed a 7'4" H frog rod that would do everything you described and more.

I use a fury 765 for punching and love it. Handles weights from 1/4 all the way up to an ounce and a half comfortably

I'm kinda down to three rods now. The Duckett Terex 7'4" Heavy, Dobyns Fury 735c, and the Dobyns 765c. Only problem with the Dobyns rods is that nowhere around here can I hold one and see if I like it. That's the downfall. I can pickup a duckett at a few places. Hate to buy a dobyns sight unseen.
