I love the performance of upgraded bearing, but hate the sound.  I have tried both Hawgtech ABEC 7s and Boca Orange Seal ABEC 7s in both my Calcutta 201B and Curado 201i.  While they both perform awesome, they are loud and don't feel quite as smooth as with the factory bearings.  Does anyone make a bearing with the performance of the ABEC 7s I have tried and the quietness/smoothness of the OEM bearing?

Anything that spins faster will be louder. The bearings you've tried are some of the best.  The stock bearings in those reels are pretty good if flushed And oiled properly. Super tuning will squeeze the max out of them.  Smoothness is all perception. Ceramic balls are rounder, smoother and harder than SS 

 ABEC 5 SST bearings are you need in a bait casting reel, keep them clean and the reel is quite, casting distance at max. ABEC 7 or 9 are made for 10,000 + rpm,s that a reel spool never comes close to reaching.

It's like putting 200 mph tires on your car that never reaches speed over 75 mph.......over kill!
