Any interest in an online BR kayak/canoe tourney?

I would be in too...there is a calculator out there that semi limits the playing field and it does a decent job but i can't think of the name of it right now..

Are you thinking of the AMI calculator (on the anglingmasters website)? That site went down back in 2014 right in the middle of a tournament I was in that used that calculator. Quite the disaster. I do not think that site or calculator were ever recovered.

Let's shoot for the first weekend of April, if all are amenable.  I coach little league baseball pretty much every weekend from 3-12 through June, but we are off that on the first weekend of April.  That gives us time to firm up the rules, etc.  As far as species, I'm cool with all species of black bass.  Perhaps we could have a largest spot/LMB/smallie award, as well.  Lots of potential here...

What are thoughts about letting it run more than a single weekend?  With work and family, it can be difficult for some of us to find time.  That, and I actually have a fishing trip scheduled for the second weekend in April. . .

Aside from my own sschedule, I think a longer open period, maybe 10-14 days, would give more people an opportunity to get involved.

I like the idea of two day tournaments - keeping track of three fish over the course of two weeks or more might be a little tedious.  It could be a spring / summer / fall series multiple tournament type thing.  Though I reiterate, I'm completely open to whatever the group agrees to; if a longer one tournament format is what folks want, I'm in for that, too.

Just a thought but could it be a 1 week period where the angler declares the 2 days they want to fish in advance? Give everyone their token Sunday night just before the new week and then they can fish their 2 days during the week and everyone turns their fish in by a set time the next Sunday night? Just thinking of guys like myself who can't fish on weekends.

I'm good with that, too.  Though if we do it that way, I would request that the individual turn in their pictures after their declared days, or in the case of non-consecutive declared days of fishing, after each day on the water.  Results will still be tallied and posted Sunday / Monday.  But in fairness to everyone, if you choose, say, Monday/Tuesday, turn in your pics Tuesday night.  If you choose Monday/Thursday, turn in your pics Monday and Thursday nights.  I can cull if in the case on non-consecutive days they have a larger fish on the second day...

I've never done this type of competition before, but wouldn't the anglers be responsible for keeping track of their own fish and culling photos?  The just submit their top 2 or 3 or whatever on the final day?

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but if you fish non-consecutive days you could in theory fish a day or two or three in between; it's a level playing field for those who fish consecutive days and turn their pictures in after only two verified days of fishing.  Not saying anyone here would take advantage, but I just don't see any down side to turning in your pictures the same day you fish if you choose non-consecutive days. It's like the daily weigh-in, I guess.

Im in. I like bluebassers idea of a weeklong window, tokens given sunday night, 2 days of fishing during that period.

since it isn't for money, just give a week window and if you can fish one day or two days or whatever so be it....now if it was for money it needs to be a longer period or a shorter period to make it even out.

Hey, haven't been on here in a while but if this is really happening I'm in for sure. Sounds fun, just need a set in stone rules/ guidelines list.

First full week in April? 3rd-9th or just the first week 1st-8th? Give a token out the night before it starts that has to be in the picture of the fish on a real measuring bump board (not a tape or ruler). I think including the token and screen name would be a good idea. No idea how to do a fair handicap system. Our fish are so little I've got no chance either way and since it's just for fun I'd be fine just skipping it and getting after it. Keep it on public waters only with normal bass rules (follow all state guidelines and requirements, no live bait, no trolling, 1 rod at a time in the water). Keep track of your biggest (longest) 5 bass and turn them in with pictures before midnight the night it ends.

I'll just be happy if I don't flip my kayak again.

I like it, 1st through 8th gives us a little more time on the water.

So you can fish any number of days within that time period?

I know it's a canoe/kayak deal, but can a guy fish from bank and follow the same guidelines? I'm in if so.

Just borrow my kayak on Saturday and Sunday when I won't be using it anyways.

So it will be 1st-8th? And will the token be posted here the night before the 1st? And we post our best 3 or 5 on the night of the 8th?

I'm in the same boat as for the most part. Most of my fishing will be a quick stop after work until dark. If I can't do the bank thing, I'll figure something out
