A little anxious yesterday.

I went out yesterday for a couple of hours after work at a pond that is not far from my house.  This pond is kind of out in the woods somewhat so it is a little colder, and more windy, than the surrounding area.  I was using my bc and had my spinning rig propped up against a tree.  I kept hearing this whistle coming from behind me and for my life I could not figure out what it was.

After a few minutes I moved down the pond a little, and the whistle came with me.  A few more minutes and I am ready to pack up and move.  I can't tell what is making the sound or where it is coming from.  I pick up my stuff and head over to the pond's dam.  The dam is more open without as many trees.

As I am walking on the dam I hear the whistle again only this time I can tell where it is coming from.  The whistle is being made from the wind blowing through the holes on my President reel's spool.  I felt kind of silly, and relieved all at the same time.

There was actually a squatch using the spool on your president as a whistle to try and communicate with you

Ah, yes, the old whistling reel bit.  Get back with us if your reels start to moan.

Hah, almost the same thing happened to be the other day.

I took my first outing in my fancy new kayak, which is big enough to hold a crate with 3-4 rods upright in it.  My old yak was smaller and I only ever brought a single rod.  All day I hear this high-pitched whistling noise, it was driving me crazy.  My buddy, who does not fish, was out with me in my old yak and I kept yelling over to ask if he was hearing anything.  Obviously he was not and it took me a shamefully long time to figure it out.

Call the Mountain Monsters guys, Buck and Trapper along with Huckleberry will find that rascal in like 10 minutes. Of course it will only be a night and spitting rain.
