Debating on which one to order, have been research, reading reviews, watching videos, seems both reels are quite similar. Only noted difference is handles, gear ratio. If i go STX, it will be 7.1.

Does anyone have both reels and might have input or would like to give their thoughts on the 2? Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Double check but I want to say the ipt is the same in spite of the ratio. 

STX 7.1 is 29" and the Rocket is 37"

Im just trying to figure out if spending the extra is worth it for that crazy speed. I know its perfect for punchin/flippin/froggin, but is that speed too much for everything else?

Would love to see if someone just owns both and what they have to say 

I own a revo stx in the 7.1:1 gear ratio. I've had it for about 8 months now and have no complaints. If I'm using this reel on a crank bait rod or something of that nature, I catch myself having to slow myself down in the reeling process. The Rocket I have no experience with, but I do recommend the stx without hesistation. 

37" is pretty fast. I wouldn't think it necessary for any moving bait. 

The high speed could be useful in generating reaction strikes though. 

I guess im torn between the 2 mainly because the rocket just looks nice, the color and the carbon handle is beautiful. Even the STX looks nice though, that red though!!! lol

I have a Rocket and I personally think it is too fast.  I have been tinkering around selling it off, but have not really decided.  The Rocket is a nice reel, search the internet you can find it cheaper then $300.  But, it is a fast reel!!  your lure will cover some water.  The Rocket does have a longer handle.  Also, I thought the STX came in an 8 to 1 gear?

Yes it does come in that gear ratio but only for Right Hand. 

It seems everything i read, people love the rocket a lot but some do say its too fast
