hey guys I'm new to this site and new to the state of florida after just recently moving here! love it so far. i just need to find some good areas with some beautiful bass. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks #rawthumbs #tightlines

Hey Levi, I am pretty much in the same situation being new to the state and waterways here in Tampa.  I did try Tarpon Lake and it was the only place I have been so far that I have caught anything.  Used a Texas Rigged Senko with a pegged bullet on 8lb test and caught a 1lb bass just flipping on the banks.  Going to try out Harney Park soon and hope to get bit.

Lived my entire 65 years in Tampa. Been bass fishing since I was 6.

Couple of questions for you guys.

What size boats do you have (if you don't have one can't help you much).

Where do you Iive and how far are you willing to travel ?

Are you averse to the brackish/saltwater ?

Believe me, it's not as simple as 'I'm in Florida so I will catch lots of big bass !' You gotta work d**n hard at it to get good.

Let me know the above and I might be able to point you in the right direction. You will come to learn that most folks around here are pretty tight lipped. You will learn why.

Hey Dave, I do not own a boat so all of my fishing is along the bank.  I live near Temple Terrance and have driven from Lake Tarpon all the way to Lake Thonotossa and even the phosphate mines of Edward Medard.  I just learned of this term "brackish" and realized how indepth and out of depth I am to these waters.  I am looking to become more knowledgable about the many unfamiliar aspects of this landscape as well as the patterns of these Florida fish. 

Lake Tarpon and Thonotosassa are good get a kayak or something and get off the bank.
